Dr. Handly was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. His father was a chiropractor and he grew up under chiropractic care. His brother also became a chiropractor in 1973 and after his brother started practicing, Dr. Don started to spend time with him at his clinic. He educated him about chiropractic and that inspired him to become a chiropractor. He quit his job as a police officer for Issaquah, Washington and moved to Atlanta. He graduated from Life University in March of 1982. While at Life he joined the Delta Sigma Chi fraternity and was a member of the Rugby team. After receiving his license in 1982 he moved back to Seattle and opened his practice. In October of 1983 he married Cynthia Haydu. She graduated from Life in December of 1982 and joined Dr. Don in practice in March of 1984. Together they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren, 4 dogs, 6 chickens and 2 guinea hens. They currently live in the very rural community of Snow Creek.
Since he began practicing, Dr. Handly has kept up to date on many continuing educational classes, ensuring that his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced chiropractic care. He also became certified in Medical Acupuncture and offers this additional service to his patients. Other certifications are in Neuroemotional Technique and Bioenergy Synchronization Technique. After 15 years of practice they decided it was time for a change and since they had always loved the south, they moved to Collinsville, Virginia in September of 1997. He has been in his current location for 13 years. Dr. Don also donates his time to the community in the capacity of an Advanced Life Support EMT with two rescue squads. He is a member of Snow Creek Rescue Squad in Franklin and also Fieldale/Collinsville rescue squad. |
